Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector demonstrated steady resilience despite market fluctuations, posting $19.34 billion in export earnings during the first half (Jan–June) of 2026, according to the latest data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

The figure represents a slight year-on-year dip of 0.63% compared to the $19.46 billion recorded during the same period in 2025, highlighting a volatile yet adaptive global trade environment for the nation's key export driver.

Sectoral Breakdown: Woven Gains, Knitwear Adjusts

Performance across the two main apparel segments moved in opposite directions:

Woven Garments: Secured $9.20 billion in export earnings, marking a modest positive growth of +0.68% year-on-year.

Knitwear: Generated $10.14 billion, experiencing a minor correction of -1.80% compared to H1 2025.

An Adaptable Landscape

Despite ongoing headwinds in international consumer markets, industry experts note that the marginal variation reflects the sector's strong foundational adaptability. The RMG industry continues to maintain stable export volumes while navigating fluctuating global demand patterns.
