Bangladesh’s RMG sector has achieved another significant milestone in green industrialization with the addition of four new LEED-certified factories, bringing the country’s total count of eco-friendly apparel units to 290.
According to data compiled by Bangladesh Apparel Voice, the country now boasts 125 Platinum-rated and 145 Gold-rated green factories. Notably, Bangladesh also holds 53 of the world's top 100 highest-scoring LEED-certified factories, further solidifying its position as the global leader in sustainable apparel manufacturing.
Among the newly certified achievements, Canvas Garments Pvt. Ltd., located at 301, North Nasirabad Industrial Area in Chattogram, achieved the prestigious 'Platinum' certification under the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1 rating system, scoring an impressive 90 points. Another major unit, Matrix Sweaters Ltd. based in Choydana, Gazipur, also secured the 'Platinum' status under the same rating system with 88 points.
Meanwhile, Karim Textiles Limited, located in Noorbagh, Mouchak under Gazipur's Kaliakoir, earned the 'Gold' certification by scoring 73 points under the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1 system. Additionally, Karim Tex Limited from Kalampur, Dhamrai in Dhaka achieved the 'Silver' certification with 53 points under the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4 rating system.
Industry insiders note that these continuous additions reflect the Bangladeshi garment sector's strong commitment to sustainability, carbon footprint reduction, and environmental conservation on the global stage.
